An oil refinery was damaged following violent clashes between armed groups in the western city of Zawiya last night, Libya’s National Oil Corporation (NOC) confirmed on Saturday.
NOC said that it is still assessing the toll of damages, but reported that 29 oil production sites were affected by the clashes.
The state-owned oil company called on the involved parties to “exercise restraint” and “keep oil facilities away from any armed actions that would endanger the lives of workers and harm the already dilapidated infrastructure of the oil sector.”
