Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, General Commander of the Libyan National Army (LNA), has issued a number of decrees to reassign commanders of military districts, coinciding with the 81st anniversary of founding the Libyan Army.
The decrees stipulated assigning Lieutenant General Abdulla al-Thani, former prime minister of the Interim Government, to lead LNA’s political administration, and assigning Major General Hashem al-Kezza as commander of Tobruk Military District.
Haftar decided to reconstitute the Greater Sirte Operations Room and assigned Major General Ahmed Salem as its commander. He also promoted Major General Pilot Muhammad al-Manfour to the rank of Lieutenant-General and assigned him to head the Air Force Staff.
Major General Ramadan al-Barasi was assigned as commander of the al-Bayda Military District, and Major General Muftah Shaqlouf was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-General and assigned to head the Border Force.
Major General Saleh Abouda was assigned to command LNA’s Training Administration, and Brigadier General Abdullah al-Zaydi as commander of the Jufra Operations Room.
The decrees included assigning Lieutenant-General Emrajaa al-Amami as a commander of the Ground Forces instead of Major General Nour al-Din al-Hamali, in addition to the assignment of Lieutenant-General Saqr al-Jarushi, as a director of the Military Inspection Department.
