Tripoli – The Public Prosecution has initiated an investigation into irregularities related to the supply of diesel fuel to the West Tripoli power plant, following findings from the Municipal Guard that revealed discrepancies in the management of equipment used to measure fuel quantities dispensed from the Janzour oil depot.
According to a statement issued by the Public Order Prosecution, under the Tripoli Court of Appeal, the head of the Janzour depot and the director of the Internal Audit Department at the Brega Oil and Gas Marketing Company were summoned and confronted with evidence indicating violations in the calibration systems of the measuring instruments.
The violations included changing the meters’ passwords without the knowledge of the Fuel Crisis Committee, calibrating the measuring devices before their calibration certificates had expired, and discrepancies between the readings of the pumping and filling meters, which resulted in a surplus of 288,000 liters in a single day.
The Public Prosecution has ordered the two defendants to be held in pretrial detention pending the investigation, affirming that it will continue to take all legal measures against anyone proven to be involved in tampering with state resources or manipulating public funds.
