The Ministry of Youth of the Government of National Unity announced yesterday, Sunday, the completion of maintenance and rehabilitation work at the Sirte Youth Hostel, allowing it to return to service after being closed for more than a decade due to damage sustained in recent years.
The Ministry clarified that this project is part of a comprehensive plan to revitalize youth facilities damaged by wars and extended periods of neglect, aiming to provide safe and equipped spaces for young people and enable them to return to cultural and social activities.
The city of Sirte suffered extensive destruction to its infrastructure during the period of ISIS control between 2014 and 2016, and the subsequent battles to liberate the city. This led to many youth and cultural facilities being out of service for a long time before restoration and rehabilitation operations began.
