Security Committee Issues Statement on Military Movements around Tripoli, Stresses Ceasefire

In light of recent movements in the capital and accompanying field developments and military movements in some areas, the Security and Military Arrangements Committee of the Libyan Presidential Council has affirmed its full commitment to its tasks of enhancing stability and supporting the security and military services under the supervision of what the statement called the Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan Army, referring to the Council’s Head Mohammed al-Menfi.

While closely monitoring these developments, the committee emphasizes the following:
1. Adherence to the principle of legitimacy in all military and security movements, stating that any activity outside official frameworks is a serious violation of laws and existing agreements.
2. The importance of strict commitment to the ceasefire as a foundation for preserving lives and property, and ensuring the continuation of the political and security process.
3. A call to all military and security units and formations to exercise discipline and avoid any unilateral actions that might threaten citizen security or hinder existing security arrangements.
4. The necessity for all forces and units to return immediately to their areas and barracks, and to refrain from any illegal deployment or positioning inside cities or outside the scope of official assignments.
5. Continued direct coordination with the General Staff and security agencies to direct efforts and confront any potential threat to national unity or civilian safety.
6. Reassuring the public that the committee is taking all necessary measures and is in continuous communication with local and international parties to support stability throughout the country.

The committee concluded its statement by confirming that Libya will not be an arena for settling accounts or imposing wills by force, and that the solution lies in commitment to agreed-upon paths and sincere cooperation between all national institutions.
