Abuzed Dorda, a senior official at the fallen regime of Muammar Gaddafi, died at age 77 on Sunday, according to Libyan media reports.
During the Gaddafi era, he held several positions, serving as General Secretary of the People’s Committee (Prime Minister) of Libya from 1990 to 1994, and as Libya’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations from 1997 to 2003.
Dorda was arrested on 11 September 2011 and sentenced to death in 2015 along with other officials for the bloody crackdown on protesters during the February 2011 revolution,
His trial drew criticism for human rights violations during his detention. He was released in February 2019 for health reasons.
