Sirte – Khaled Yousef, Director of the Media Office at the Sirte Free Zone, confirmed on Tuesday that construction work on the southern container terminal is progressing at an advanced pace at the Sirte Free Zone Port.
Yousef explained that these works aim to modernize the port’s infrastructure and enhance its operational capacity. He noted that more than half of the construction for the front and rear quay wall capping beams has been completed. Additionally, backfilling operations are being carried out according to approved technical specifications in preparation for the casting of the quay’s concrete slab.
He further indicated that the installation of concrete blocks for the remaining 120-meter section of the pier is ongoing. This will be followed by the backfilling of the terminal yard area, in accordance with the approved plan to complete the project within the designated timeframe.
