Quba – Abdullah Blihaq, spokesman for the House of Representatives, said that House Speaker and President of the Afro-Asian Parliamentary Council Aguila Saleh met Wednesday with the Council’s Secretary-General, Fayez Al-Shawabkeh. The meeting discussed the outcomes of the council secretariat’s recent session and several issues related to its operations.
Blihaq explained that the meeting, held in Quba and attended by House of Representatives Chief of Staff Abdullah Al-Masri Al-Fadil, parliamentary advisor Ahmed Hashash, and council official Hossam Al-Nuaimat, focused on draft regulatory bylaws and council decisions.
The participants agreed to invite the leaders of Asian and African parliaments to designate their representatives to the council’s executive committee, paving the way for its inaugural meeting. They also discussed preparations and procedures concerning the permanent headquarters of the Afro-Asian Parliamentary Council to be established in Benghazi.
