Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani has affirmed his country’s support for the efforts to reach presidential and parliamentary elections in Libya as soon as possible.
This came during a phone call that Tajani had with his Libyan counterpart, Najla Al-Mangoush, according to the Libyan Foreign Ministry.
The two sides discussed the file of border guards, combating illegal immigration, and the return of Italian companies to complete the construction of pending projects in Libya, including Tripoli International Airport.
The two sides assured their countries “readiness” to activate the joint agreements, including the Treaty of Benghazi signed in August 2008 between former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi Libya’s former leader Muhammar Gaddafi.
