Three Libyan Airlines officials arrested on corruption charges

The Public Prosecutor’s Office has announced on Monday the imprisonment of three officials from the Libyan Airlines company, on charges of financial and administrative corruption.

A statement published by the office indicated that the Public Prosecution launched an investigation into suspicions about the administrative and financial activity of the state-owned Libyan Airlines company in the past years.

The investigations proved, according to the statement, that the former CEO had assigned one of the contracts to his son, so that the latter would receive financial benefits that are illegal. In addition to sending aircraft for maintenance without following the purpose of the contract; This resulted in additional financial costs estimated at hundreds of thousands of dollars, as well as the failure of officials to carry out maintenance work for which the government allocated a major budget as a support for the company.
