Over the past two days, UNSMIL Deputy Special Representative for Political Affairs, Stephanie Koury, held meetings with key security figures in Tripoli, including Deputy Minister of Defense Abdul Salam Al-Zoubi, DACOT Commander Abdelraouf Kara, and Mahmoud Bin Rajab from the Security and Military Arrangements Committee.
The discussions focused on the current security environment in the capital and the political process supported by UNSMIL, in preparation for the upcoming briefing to the UN Security Council. They assessed the progress of the Security and Military Arrangements Committee and ongoing mediation efforts aimed at fostering peace and stability in the city.
DSRSG Koury emphasized the importance of resolving outstanding issues through dialogue and avoiding violence. The UN Mission reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Libyan-led initiatives for reforming the security sector and preventing conflict.
