UN envoy to Libya Abdoulaye Bathily said Wednesday he met with the new Chargé d’affaires of Egypt, Ambassador Tamer Elhefny.
“I shared with him my assessment of the latest political developments, emphasizing the importance of positive engagement from all Libyan and regional actors in the five-party dialogue,” Bathily stated on X.
“I also expressed my appreciation for Egypt’s support in seeking a Libyan-led, Libyan-owned solution to the protracted crisis, including through an UN-facilitated political agreement that paves the way for holding elections as soon as possible,” he added.
