The United Nations and France have reaffirmed on Sunday “the importance of finalizing the constitutional basis” to Libya’s presidential and parliamentary elections “as soon as possible,” according to the French Embassy in Libya.
This came following a meeting between UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Libya, Abdoulaye Bathily, and France’s Special Envoy to Libya, Paul Soler, in Tripoli today.
During the bilateral talks, Soler reiterated France’s “full support” for U.N. mediation and “priority for the sovereignty of Libya”, according to the French embassy.
