The United Nations wants to maintain “the unity and independence” of the Libyan judiciary and “will not tolerate intimidation and attacks” against it.
That’s what Stephanie Williams, the U.N. Special Envoy to Libya, told Mohamed El Hafi, President of the Supreme Judicial Council, during a meeting in Tripoli yesterday.
She said that she agreed with the Libyan judge on keeping the judiciary away from “all political influence and disputes” as the elections on December 24 looms.
