US ambassador call on Libyan parties to de-escalate tensions and respect electoral process

U.S. Ambassador and Special Envoy to Libya, Richard Norland, called Wednesday on Libyan parties to de-escalate tensions and to respect the electoral process.

“We call on all parties to de-escalate tensions and to respect the Libyan-led, legal and administrative electoral processes underway,” U.S. Embassy in Libya quoted Norland.

“The United States shares the concerns of Libyans and the international community that armed actors and the risk of violence not be allowed to threaten elections scheduled to start Dec. 24 and the aspirations of millions of Libyans to cast their votes,” Norland stated.
