The U.S. Special Envoy and Ambassador to Libya, Richard Norland, and Chargé d’Affaires, Jeremy Berndt, held talks on Saturday with Governor of the Central Bank of Libya (CBL), Saddiq ElKabeer, in which they discussed “the importance of the CBL’s technocratic integrity and independence in managing #Libya‘s financial resources, including for the critical issue of flood reconstruction,” according to a statement by the American embassy.
“They highlighted that effectively addressing the needs of Derna and other affected communities will require a unified, transparent, and expert-driven approach, with cooperation from international institutions, including the World Bank and the United Nations,” added the embassy.
