US: Libya elections require transparency with voters

US calls for Libya elections on December after leaked proposal controversy

Richard Norland, the U.S. Special Envoy and Ambassador to Libya, underscored the importance of transparency with voters in the upcoming Libyan elections during a conversation on Thursday with Wafia Saif al-Nasr, a member of the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum (LPDF).

Norland said that he spoke with Al-Nasr to listen to her views on “how to jumpstart Libya’s electoral process,” according to a statement by the U.S. Embassy via Twitter.

“Elections require transparency with voters,” Norland was quoted as saying by the embassy. “All Libyans, particularly the millions of registered voters, deserve to hear more about next steps from Libyan political leaders.”
