Saddek El Kaber, Governor of the Central Bank of Libya (CBL), held talks on Sunday with U.S. Special and Envoy and Ambassador to Libya, Richard Norland, and Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Treasury Eric Meyer, said the American embassy in Libya.
During a video-conference meeting, El Kaber briefed the U.S. officials on “the latest developments in Libya’s financial and fiscal execution and on progress toward reunification of the CBL,” according to a statement by the embassy.
“They agreed on the importance of transparency in the regular payment of salaries and essential government expenditures in the interest of the Libyan people and in maintaining the independence and neutrality of state institutions such as the CBL and National Oil Corporation.”
