Zliten– A women’s charity market, organized by the Women’s Support and Empowerment Office of the Zliten Municipal Council, launched in the city of Zliten last Friday evening in an initiative aimed at supporting small-scale industry projects and enhancing the role of women in the local economy. This event is part of a series of programs designed to open new opportunities for housewives and working women, enabling them to market their products and showcase their craft and professional skills, thereby contributing to the community economy and driving development within the region.
The charity market features a wide range of pavilions displaying a variety of local products, including handicrafts, woolen goods, and traditional home-based industries that are an authentic part of the region’s heritage. A large number of productive families are also participating in the market, offering various types of popular foods and dishes known in Zliten and neighboring areas, in addition to home-based pottery that highlights meticulous craftsmanship and the rich cultural heritage for which the city is renowned.
The event aims to provide an open space for women to showcase their work to the public and to encourage the local community to support national products and promote home-based production, amid rising demand for locally manufactured goods valued for their quality, authenticity, and appeal to consumer tastes. The charity market also helps foster communication among participants of different age groups and facilitates the exchange of experiences between craftswomen and small project owners, thereby expanding opportunities for development and innovation in future projects.
The Women’s Support and Empowerment Office of the Municipal Council affirms that organizing the women’s charity market in Zliten is part of a comprehensive vision to economically empower women by providing permanent and temporary platforms for them to market their products, as well as organizing training courses and workshops aimed at developing women’s skills and equipping them with the necessary tools to manage their projects effectively.
