The Public Prosecution continued its efforts to combat organized crime and maritime crime, as the West Misrata Primary Prosecution Office launched an investigation into a report received from the head of the Special Tasks Department regarding criminal activity involving the operation of a workshop to build boats used for smuggling migrants.
With authorization from the prosecution, a search was conducted which resulted in the seizure of six completed boats and the arrest of ten individuals working on their construction. It was also established that they had built a total of twelve boats, seven of which had already sailed toward the northern Mediterranean.
The Public Prosecution ordered that those arrested be referred to it and called for the arrest of three other suspects believed to be managing this illicit activity.
