Shahat – The Green Mountain Agricultural Police branch conducted a field visit. This was to a poultry farm in the Al-Wasita area near Shahat. The visit followed a report from farm owner Abdulsalam Al-Shaeri. He reported sick poultry with suspected Newcastle disease symptoms.
Brigadier Adel Abreidan is the official spokesperson for the agency. He stated that a team of specialists immediately went to the site. They coordinated with the Animal Health Office. They implemented all approved health and preventive measures.
Veterinary examination confirmed the farm was infected with the virus. Approximately 5,000 out of 10,000 birds died. Half of the birds had already been marketed in recent days.
Brigadier Abreidan added that an investigation officer opened a report. All precautionary measures were implemented. These included the safe disposal of dead poultry. Thorough disinfection of the farm was also carried out. This aims to limit disease spread. It also ensures health and environmental safety.
He further noted that Agricultural Police patrols conducted comprehensive inspections. These patrols were from the Qaminis Suluq branch. They collaborated with the Suluq Agriculture Sector Coordinator. The Animal Health Office, Environmental Sanitation Office, and Municipal Guard also assisted. They inspected poultry farms in the municipality. No Newcastle disease infections have been recorded there so far.
