Benghazi – Libyan champion Izz al-Din Mustafa al-Hain, one of the most prominent athletes in powerlifting for the blind, is preparing to participate in the World Championship to be held in Turkey on the twenty-seventh of this October, representing Libya in this international sporting event.
In a statement to the Libyan News Agency, al-Hain said that his athletic career began in 2013, when he won the Libyan Powerlifting Championship and the gold medal in the same year, becoming one of the most prominent names in the sport at both the local and international levels.
He noted that his participation in the World and European Championship in 2014 was a turning point in his career, as he achieved first place and won the gold medal at the age of seventeen, thereby registering his name as the youngest Libyan athlete to be crowned internationally in this sport.
Al-Hain added that the difficult circumstances the country faced and the lack of resources prevented his participation in some championships, but he continued his training with determination. He made a strong comeback in 2019 at the World and African Championship in Cairo, where he was crowned with four gold medals, earning the titles of World Champion and African Champion.
The Libyan champion affirmed that he continued his personal efforts despite the absence of official support, achieving the titles of Champion of the Eastern Region and Champion of Libya for 2024. He also recently won first place in the competitions at the Tripoli International Fair.
He concluded his remarks with a message to athletes with disabilities: “Determination is stronger than circumstances, and willpower creates champions, no matter how limited the resources.”
