Cairo – Libyan champion Ghazala Mohammed Al-Aqouri won two bronze medals at the Para Powerlifting World Championships, currently underway in the Arab Republic of Egypt, following her remarkable performance in the 88 kg weight class and the overall total.
This achievement is a culmination of Al-Aqouri’s continuous efforts in representing the national para-powerlifting team for persons with disabilities and reflects the significant development in the performance of Libyan athletes on the international stage.
In a statement to the Libyan News Agency, Mohamed Al-Salini Al-Fitori, Director of the Media and Documentation Office of the Libyan Paralympic Committee, praised champion Al-Aqouri’s outstanding performance, affirming that this win was the result of serious preparation and intensive training the team underwent in recent months.
Al-Fitori explained that the Libyan Paralympic Committee continues its full support for its athletes, noting that these positive results reflect the determination of Libya’s champions and their insistence on raising the nation’s flag high in international forums, despite challenges and difficult circumstances.
He concluded his statement by emphasizing that the team’s participation in the championship was made possible by the continuous support from the General Command of the Libyan Arab Armed Forces, which provided a suitable environment for achieving honorable results that add to the record of Libyan sports.
