Member of the House of Representatives Ali Al-Takbali said that the Libyan crisis has been exacerbated by internal divisions and a lack of understanding among political institutions since 2011. He noted that the House of Representatives itself contributed to creating legislative duality by establishing the High Council of State, which led to a state of institutional rivalry, in exclusive statements to “Erem News.”
Al-Takbali explained that the establishment of the High Council of State was a result of the political agreement’s negotiators being unaware of what would happen later, leaving the country with two councils competing for legitimacy and obstructing the state’s path.
He stressed that the continued division between the two councils and the personal interests of some internal parties have made it difficult for any UN envoy to achieve tangible progress, saying, “We are the ones who lost our country with our own hands and brought in others to solve our problem.”
