Benghazi – The national Muay Boran team has concluded its preparatory camp in readiness for the first African Professional Championship, to be held in the Tunisian city of Djerba, with the participation of an elite group of the continent’s champions in the sport.
Under the supervision of the Libyan Federation for Jeet Kune Do and Muay Boran, the camp involved intensive preparations aimed at enhancing the team’s readiness. The delegation includes 17 male and female athletes from various regions of Libya, with seven from the western region and ten from the eastern region. This marks the second time female athletes have participated in the sport’s history, reflecting the development of women’s sports in Libya.
In a statement to a LANA correspondent, the President of the Libyan Muay Boran Federation, Captain Ahmed Al-Zaydani, said that the team includes prominent names such as Musa Al-Busaifi, Omar Bouhawiya, Abdel-Moein Al-Busaifi, and Laith Al-Zaidi, among other champions who aim to raise the Libyan flag on the podium.
He pointed out that the championship is under the patronage of the African Union and the supervision of the International Federation and the global UFC organization, making it a significant and widely followed event across the continent and the world.
He praised the support provided by Al-Wahda Bank to the team, including travel tickets, official uniforms, and publicity, stressing that this support is a primary motivator for achieving success despite challenges and limited resources.
