Benghazi – General Commander Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar inaugurated the first phase of the Jalyana project on Saturday evening. This phase is located in Benghazi. It includes the construction of five modern bridges. These are part of broader infrastructure development projects.
The project falls under the scope of the Libya Development and Reconstruction Fund. Engineer Balqassem Khalifa heads the fund. It aims to improve the road network. It also seeks to enhance the city’s urban landscape.
The inauguration ceremony saw a notable attendance. The head of the Libyan Government, Dr. Osama Hammad, was present. Several House of Representatives members also attended. Military and security leaders were there. These included Misbah Douma, Second Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives. General Khaled Khalifa, Army Chief of Staff, was present. Benghazi Mayor Azzedine Al-Gharabi attended. Major General Faraj Aqaim, Undersecretary of the Interior Ministry, was also there. The General Movement for Scouts and Girl Guides participated as well.
The Jalyana project is considered vital. It aims to improve traffic flow. It will connect the city center to its main axes. Simultaneously, Jalyana Lake will be developed. It will transform into a modern urban facade. This development will enhance Benghazi’s urban landscape.
