Fathallah Al-Sariri, a member of the State Council, described the House of Representatives’ approval of the Elections Commission’s budget as a “decisive step.” He said it would push political parties towards achieving the electoral entitlement. It would also obligate the executive authority to provide material and security support nationwide. Al-Sariri made these remarks during a special interview with Al-Masar TV.
Al-Sariri emphasized that the success of presidential and parliamentary elections is crucial. It paves the way for a stable phase, free from internal conflicts.
He clarified that this step places the UN mission and international parties before their responsibilities. They must support the right of Libyans to choose their leaders. This also ensures the integrity and transparency of the elections.
