Benghazi – The Director of the Information and Public Relations Office at the Arabian Gulf Oil Company (AGOCO), Ahmed Al-Oraibi, said that the company held an extensive meeting to present and discuss the current status of Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) systems within oil companies. This was done in coordination with the National Oil Corporation (NOC) as part of ongoing efforts to enhance employee readiness and improve the work environment.
Al-Oraibi explained to the Libyan News Agency newspaper that the meeting is part of the company’s policy aimed at raising safety standards and improving risk management procedures. He noted that AGOCO considers “a safe environment an essential part of the success of operational processes, not just a regulatory requirement.”
He added that this approach is consistent with the training and qualification programs implemented by the company at various sites, stressing that the specialized courses held in recent months reflect the company’s commitment to developing the capabilities of its human resources.
Marine Communications and Emergencies Course – Tobruk Training Center
Al-Oraibi pointed out that the company concluded an advanced course in Marine Communications and Emergencies at the Tobruk Training Center. The course focused on “developing trainees’ skills in handling emergency situations and ensuring the safety of personnel and equipment through modern and advanced communication systems.”
Additionally, the second group of engineers from the gas utilization project completed a training program in Tunisia at the headquarters of “Ferrostaal,” where the trainees received practical lectures and made field visits to learn about the latest global technologies in gas processing and investment. This is part of a project aimed at reducing gas flaring and improving production efficiency while preserving the environment.
First Aid Course – Al-Bayda Field Training Center
Al-Oraibi confirmed that a first aid course was conducted for the first group at the Al-Bayda field, with the aim of “raising awareness of rapid intervention skills and handling accidents within the fields.” He noted that courses for other groups will follow according to the training plan.
He also mentioned the implementation of an extensive training program in safety and firefighting at the Al-Hamada field, which focused on “identifying risks, implementing evacuation plans, using firefighting equipment, and applying preventive measures,” contributing to reducing the likelihood of accidents and enhancing the protection of workers and facilities.
A Firm Commitment to International Standards
Al-Oraibi concluded his statement by emphasizing that the Arabian Gulf Oil Company continues to enhance a safe work environment and standardize safety criteria across all its sites. He pointed out that the company “adopts sustainable development programs that ensure the continuity of operational processes with high efficiency and the lowest risk rates, in line with international standards in the oil and gas sector.”
