Benghazi, Libya – From the spirited contests of beach handball to the thrilling rallies of volleyball, and from the massive crowds of enthusiastic spectators to the vibrant display of international flags, Benghazi has launched its summer season with a powerful statement. This year, the city’s shores are not just for swimming but for exhilarating competition, challenge, and sporting spectacle.
The opening of the festival at the famed Al-Sabri Sands was marked by an electrifying start, featuring two captivating matches in beach handball and beach volleyball that drew a diverse and engaged audience of all ages.
The beach handball tournament shone with prominent international participation. Teams from Morocco, Togo, Tunisia, Algeria, and Bahrain competed alongside two Libyan national teams (A and B), fostering a spirited atmosphere of rivalry and camaraderie that reflects a bridge of friendship between nations.
Meanwhile, the beach volleyball tournament showcased a remarkable presence of local teams representing several Libyan cities. This added a distinctly national flavor to the competitions, blending sportsmanship with a sense of patriotic pride.
The festival’s activities are set to continue daily until next Thursday, with a variety of matches scheduled on the beach. Accompanying events will also be held, adding a touch of entertainment, athleticism, and a celebration of life to the summer atmosphere in Benghazi.
