Tripoli – The Central Bank of Libya on Tuesday denied news circulating on social media about the imminent withdrawal of the ten-dinar banknote, known locally as the “green note.”
Sources close to the bank’s governor, Naji Issa, confirmed that this news is untrue and that its aim is currency speculation and to stir anxiety among citizens.
The bank clarified that the ten-dinar note will remain in normal circulation and that any changes related to the national currency will be officially announced through official channels, urging the public not to be drawn into rumors that could lead to financial panic.
The Central Bank noted that monitoring currency circulation and detecting any suspicious movements are part of its role in maintaining the stability of the monetary market, calling on media outlets and social media platforms to verify information before publishing it.
