Jordan, Cyprus, and Greece stressed the importance of “the complete withdrawal of all foreign forces, fighters, and mercenaries from Libya,” expressing their support for the Libyan Government of National Unity (GNU) in “its efforts to hold elections on time,” according to the Royal Court of Jordan.
In a joint statement after their leaders’ meeting in Athens on Wednesday, Jordan, Cyprus, and Greece also confirmed determination of their leaders to help Libya restore stability and prosperity, calling on all countries of the Mediterranean to respect the sovereignty of each country over its maritime areas in accordance with the international law of the sea.
