Deputy Head of the Umma Party, Ahmed Dogha, commented on the circulating reports regarding the efforts of Massaad Boulos to find a solution to the political stalemate in Libya, noting that the visit of the AFRICOM commander and his meeting with the Head of the Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh, could be considered support for these efforts.
Dogha explained in a statement to Erem News that the United States is capable, if there is seriousness, of breaking the state of political stalemate the country is going through, considering that the political parties clinging to power do not wish to concede for the sake of the nation, which has been proven by past years. He suggested that American pressure would lead to the exclusion of obstructors and thus the success of American efforts in finding a solution.
Regarding the calls to hold presidential elections, Dogha believed they are futile at the present time, explaining that organizing elections without a clear constitution or constitutional document could lead to the creation of a new dictator or lead the country into a new round of conflict, according to him.
