EL ALAMEIN, Egypt – The Egyptian government has reiterated its position on the Libyan crisis, emphasizing the necessity of holding simultaneous presidential and parliamentary elections without delay.
The statement was delivered by Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aati following a meeting with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan on Saturday.
Speaking to the press, Abdel Aati identified two core requirements for a stable Libya: a unified electoral process and fundamental security overhauls. According to the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, he stressed the importance of “the need to dismantle militias and withdraw all foreign forces, foreign fighters, and mercenaries,” framing it as an indispensable step toward lasting peace.
