Expanded meeting to discuss developments of the damaged Russian tanker

Benghazi – A meeting was held this Tuesday morning. It took place at the Naval Operations Division hall. Naval Chief of Staff, Sailor Team Shoaib Youssef Al-Saber, chaired the meeting. He also heads the Emergency and Rapid Response Committee. Committee members attended the session. They discussed the latest developments concerning the Russian tanker ‘Arctic Met Agaz’.

Brigadier General Boubaker Al-Badri spoke to the Libyan News Agency. He is the Head of the Moral Guidance Office. This office is part of the Naval Chief of Staff. Al-Badri clarified the meeting’s focus. It followed up on precautionary measures. These measures aim to protect Libyan shores. They also secure them from potential dangers. Participants stressed the importance of coordination. This is between relevant authorities. It enhances readiness. It also improves rapid response to emergencies.

Several leaders and officials participated. These included the Head of the Coast Guard and Port Security Agency. Representatives from the Naval Operations Division attended. So did the Ports and Maritime Transport Authority. The Maritime Navigation Chamber was also represented. The National Oil Corporation sent representatives. Environmental protection agencies were present.

Participants affirmed the need to unify efforts. They stressed intensifying coordination. This is crucial among various entities. It ensures marine environment protection. It also safeguards Libyan coasts. This is especially true given developments. These relate to tanker movement within territorial waters.

This meeting is part of ongoing monitoring. The Naval Chief of Staff conducts this. It addresses maritime challenges. The staff is keen to take necessary measures. These measures preserve maritime security. They also ensure coastal safety.
