Prime Minister Osama Hamad has issued urgent instructions to the National Oil Corporation to immediately secure fuel and gas supplies for power stations. The aim is to maintain electricity production capacity and limit the effects of ongoing shortages.
Hamad’s directive comes amid a severe shortfall in natural gas and light fuel needed for power generation. According to the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy’s media office, Hamad told the chairman of the National Oil Corporation that the company and its affiliates bear full responsibility for any failures or delays in meeting the fuel needs of power stations.
He stressed the need for urgent action to resolve current bottlenecks that have disrupted the electric grid and could lead to longer power outages in some areas. Hamad also highlighted the importance of continued direct coordination between the National Oil Corporation, the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy, and the General Electricity Company. He said this cooperation is crucial to stabilizing the power grid and maintaining service to residents, especially as energy demand rises during peak periods.
Hamad requested an immediate update on measures taken and the executive plan to secure power station fuel supplies. He emphasized that ongoing shortages and their impact on the electrical network are the responsibility of relevant authorities tasked with delivering fuel to power plants.
