Gharyan – The Public Prosecution has ordered the pre-trial detention of the former Director General of Gharyan Teaching Hospital, along with the head and members of the committee for receiving equipment and supplies, pending investigation.
The decision came after a prosecutor at the Attorney General’s office investigated the procedures for the disbursement of five million dinars as payment for equipment and supplies delivered to the medical institution in 2019.
The Attorney General’s office stated that the investigation revealed that the accused intended to enable the supplier to obtain illicit financial benefits by accepting medical equipment that did not conform to the contracted specifications, and supplies that were unfit for use.
