N’Djamena – The Khalifa International Humanitarian Foundation continues its fieldwork in Chad as part of its strategic approach to addressing humanitarian crises at their roots. The foundation is holding a series of coordination meetings with government agencies and partner organizations focused on humanitarian and development work.
The initiative is based on the foundation’s belief that tackling the challenges of asylum and irregular migration to Libya requires dealing with their underlying causes in countries of origin and transit. The foundation seeks to support community stability, improve living conditions, and promote development opportunities in local communities across neighboring African countries.
Mohamed Al-Majbari, the foundation’s executive director, held several official meetings in N’Djamena to promote cooperation with humanitarian agencies and to explore future partnership opportunities in relief and development programs.
During the visit, Al-Majbari met with the head of the National Commission for the Reception and Reintegration of Refugees and Returnees (CNARR). The two sides discussed the humanitarian challenges facing refugees and internally displaced people in Chad, whose number now exceeds 2.2 million. They examined ways to support existing camps in eastern Chad and to strengthen basic services, aiming to address urgent needs among the most vulnerable groups.
Al-Majbari also met with the director of humanitarian affairs and international cooperation at the Chadian Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and National Solidarity. The meeting focused on boosting institutional cooperation and improving joint coordination to ensure humanitarian aid efficiently reaches those in need.
The foundation’s executive director also held talks with representatives of the organization “Bayt Africa,” a youth-led group dedicated to empowering young people and creating local employment opportunities. Discussions centered on jointly implementing development initiatives for youth, aiming to provide sustainable economic and social alternatives that can reduce the drivers of irregular migration.
The foundation and its Chadian partners discussed the issue of irregular migration among young people from Central African countries heading to Libya. They addressed the main economic and social factors pushing youth to undertake hazardous journeys.
Participants stressed the importance of implementing proactive development programs focused on economic empowerment, vocational training, and job creation as sustainable solutions to the root causes of irregular migration. These efforts will complement security and border management initiatives.
These meetings are part of the Khalifa International Humanitarian Foundation’s broader goal of expanding its humanitarian and development presence in the region. The foundation seeks to build effective partnerships that support crisis-affected communities and help create a more stable environment for youth and families in neighboring African countries.
