Sebha – Fezzan University launched the fourth edition of its Holy Quran memorization and recitation competition today, Thursday. The competition is for the academic year 2025-2026. Its slogan is “Recite the Quran with measured recitation.” This event is a collaboration. It involves the Arabic Language and Quranic Sciences Department at Traghen College of Education. It also includes local Endowments Offices.
The competition management announced its activities will last for two days. Fifteen male and female contestants are participating. They are divided into three categories. These categories are: memorizing the entire Holy Quran, memorizing the last half, and memorizing the last quarter of the Holy Quran.
The judging panel consists of six imams and sheikhs. Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah Al-Ahirash presides over the committee. They will evaluate participants. Strict criteria ensure fairness and transparency.
A source from the competition told the Libyan News Agency that winners will receive valuable cash prizes. The first-place winner will receive 4,000 dinars. The second-place winner will get 2,000 dinars. The third-place winner will receive 1,000 dinars.
The competition aims to promote memorization of the Holy Quran among university students. It encourages correct recitation. It also develops their religious and cultural awareness. This positively impacts their academic and spiritual journeys.
