The Libyan National Oil Corporation (NOC) expressed Thursday its regret over the death of one person and injury of another in an explosion at the Nitrogen Unit of Well A55 of the Zueitina Oil Company’s al-Intisar Field.
The Corporation explained, in a statement , that the deceased person belongs to al-Nisr Company, which was carrying out work on the A55 well of the Zueitina Company.
NOC said that the fire was immediately put out and the well was well-secured, but unfortunately one of the contractor’s workers died and another was transferred to the hospital in a stable condition.
The Corporation confirmed that its Chairman, Farhat Bengdara, issued directives to form a committee to independently investigate the causes of the incident, take all security and safety measures, take care of the procedures for transporting and burying the deceased, and take urgent measures to treat the injured at the company’s expense.
