Fawzi Al-Nuwari, Acting Speaker of Libya’s House of Representatives, met on Wednesday with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in Ankara to discuss “bilateral relations and cooperation”, Libyan lawmaker Issa Al-Araibi told The Libya Update.
During his surprise visit to the Turkish capital, Al-Nuwari was accompanied a number of Libyan MPs including members of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs.
A number of senior Turkish officials were also present at the talks including Mustafa Şentop, the Speaker of Turkey’s Grand National Assembly.
Al-Araibi told The Libya Update that both sides also discussed resuming flights between Benghazi and Turkey. They also discuss economic cooperation and trade between Ankara the eastern authorities in Libya, which have witnessed halt amid tensions between both sides over Turkey’s political and military interference in Libya.
