The Central Bank of Libya (CBL) said on Monday that it will transfer one billion Libyan dinar worth of cash (over 215 million U.S. dollars) to banks in the country’s eastern region, according to local press report.
Citing unnamed CBL officials, the Sada newspaper reported that the transfer “comes within the framework of the Central Bank’s plan to provide cash liquidity to commercial banks in all regions of Libya before the holy month of Ramadan.”
As per Sada, the officials confirmed that coordination has been made between the CBL Governor Saddek Elkaber and his deputy Ali Al-Hibri to implement the transfer.
Reportedly, the money will be transferred by air over three flights a week starting on Wednesday, March 23.
