Belgrade – The third International Quranic Competition has begun in Belgrade, the Serbian capital. The Libyan Embassy in Serbia organizes it. The Serbian Islamic Community cooperates in its organization. Activities will conclude next Friday. Participants include a delegation from the Libyan Youth Hostels Movement. Various communities and religious institutions are also taking part.
The competition is held annually at the historic Bajrakli Mosque in Belgrade. Resident Arab and Islamic communities participate. Students from Quranic centers also attend. Several religious and cultural institutions are involved. It includes multiple levels of Quran memorization. These range from memorizing the entire Quran to three-quarters and other levels.
Muhammad Bin Zahia is the Director of Media and Communication at the Libyan Youth Hostels Association. He told the Libyan News Agency about the Libyan delegation’s participation. He confirmed their involvement in the third edition supports youth. It encourages them to excel in memorizing the Quran and its sciences. This also enhances Libya’s presence in international religious events.
Bin Zahia clarified that the Libyan Embassy in Serbia supervises the competition. It is coordinated with the Serbian Islamic Community. The goal is to consolidate religious values. It also aims to build bridges of communication among Arab and Islamic communities. He noted that the current edition sees broader participation than previous ones.
He pointed out that the first edition took place in February 2024. The second edition started in March 2025. Several entities participated, including the Libyan Islamic Da’wah College. The Libyan Youth Hostels Association was also involved. Students from memorization centers took part. He affirmed that the continued organization reflects the organizers’ interest. They seek to promote competition in Quran memorization.
Bin Zahia confirmed the Libyan Youth Hostels delegation includes members of Al-Khalawi youth. He expressed hope that participants would achieve honorable results. These results should be worthy of Libya’s name in this international Quranic forum.
This participation reflects Libya’s commitment. It supports religious and cultural activities abroad. It also enhances its presence in events that unite peoples. These events share common values of tolerance, knowledge, and cooperation.
