Lieutenant General Saddam Haftar praises the professionalism of the Armed Forces as 'Flintlock 2026' kicks off with extensive international participation

Libya – Saddam Haftar stated that Libya’s hosting of the “Flintlock 2026” exercise reflects the military establishment’s unity and readiness. Lieutenant General Saddam Haftar, Deputy Commander-in-Chief, confirmed Libya will host the Flintlock 2026 military exercise. It will take place mid-month. U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) will oversee it. The exercise will feature broad African and international participation. Haftar noted the event is crucial. It will enhance international coordination. It will also combat terrorism. Furthermore, it will boost combat readiness.

Preparations are complete in Sirte. Haftar clarified that preparations for hosting officers and military personnel were finished weeks ago. They come from various parts of the country. Sirte is the host city. He noted that the city resisted terrorism and prevailed. Today, it brings Libyans together. This is after its reconstruction by loyal national efforts.

He added that Libya’s hosting of this international military event reflects the ability of Libyan youth to unite. It affirms the professionalism of military personnel. He stated they would remain, in his words, “a solid structure” in their cohesion. They will be strong in defending a unified Libya.

Enhancing Coordination and Counter-Terrorism. Haftar indicated the exercise provides a prime opportunity. It will enhance international coordination. It will combat terrorism. It will also protect borders. Combat readiness will increase. Furthermore, it will strengthen coordination among participating African countries.

He stated this event is a firm step. It will help Libya restore its leading role. This includes maintaining national security and peace. It also extends to the African continent and the Mediterranean Sea.

Commendation for Haftar’s Follow-up and AFRICOM’s Cooperation. Haftar also expressed appreciation to Field Marshal Khalifa Belqasim Haftar. He is the Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan Arab Armed Forces. Saddam Haftar confirmed the Field Marshal personally oversaw all preparations for the exercise. He expressed pride and gratitude to all members of the Libyan military establishment. They came from Tripoli and other Libyan cities. They are participating in this military event. He described it as the first of its kind in the country’s history.

He also extended thanks to the U.S. Embassy in Libya. Thanks were also given to the U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM). He praised the high level of coordination with the Libyan Arab Armed Forces. He also acknowledged their commitment to strengthening partnership and cooperation.

Emphasis on Libya’s Unity. Haftar emphasized that steadfast commitment is required. This includes Libya’s unity and protection. It also means consolidating peace, construction, and comprehensive development. This applies across all cities, villages, and regions. It necessitates a unifying, resolute, and strong national leadership. Such leadership must involve all Libyans in building the country’s future.

He concluded by extending greetings and appreciation to all military personnel. These individuals are participating in the exercise. He expressed confidence in their professionalism, competence, courage, and discipline. This includes their adherence to all applicable laws and regulations within the Libyan Arab Armed Forces.
