The purpose of today’s visit to Turkey by Foreign Minister Najla Mangoush is to try to “smooth the corners” with the Turks regarding the withdrawal of their forces ahead of upcoming ‘Libya Stability’ conference on October 21 which is hosted by Tripoli, Italian news agency Nova reports.
Citing unnamed sources, Nova says that Ankara would not want a reference to the withdrawal of its force in the concluding statement of the conference as it consider its military presence in the country “legitimate”.
This reportedly led Mangoush to fly to the Turkish capital in order to reach a compromise on this issue with her Turkish counterpart Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu.
