The General Commander of the Libyan National Army (LNA), Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, affirmed LNA support for all efforts made to make the presidential and parliamentary elections successful on December 24, calling on the international community and the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) to provide support for these efforts that would help the Libyan people to reach what they aspire to.
Haftar said, in his meeting with the Speaker and members of the House of Representatives (HoR): “We commend your patriotic stances, which have always been supportive of national principles and LNA General Command in all domestic and international forums.”
“The objectives of LNA General Command and HoR are unified, namely achieving national unity, preserving Libyan sovereignty, and supporting national reconciliation efforts,” LNA Commander added.
For his part, HoR Speaker, Aqila Saleh, said that the parliament members have a clear demand, which is to allocate a budget for LNA, and that the next stage would be difficult and “we must be one hand; with a specific goal.”
