New flights will be introduced from the Mitiga airport in Tripoli to Rome Fiumicino and vice versa through MedSkay, the Libyan airline company announced.
These new flights are schedule for from November 1 to December 30. Flights from Mitiga Airport will depart on Mondays at 7:30AM with an expected arrival at 8:15AM. On Wednesdays and Saturdays the departure flights at 9:00AM, with an expected arrival at 9:50AM.
Flights from Fiumicino airport will depart on Mondays at 9:15AM with expected arrival at 12. On Wednesdays and Saturdays at 10:50 AM with expected arrival at 1:40PM.
Italy and Libya have reestablished a direct connection after a decade-long ban, marking a significant milestone in Libya’s civil aviation industry. The first nonstop flight between Rome and Tripoli was operated by ITA Airways, with the Libyan Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh onboard.
The historical flight AZ8904 was operated between Rome Fiumicino Airport (FCO) and Tripoli Mitiga International Airport (MJI) with ITA’s Airbus A320. The diplomatic flight departed FCO at 14:20 and arrived in MJI at 15:47. On the return leg, it left MJI at 17:00, arriving in FCO at 18:54.
