Benghazi – The Minister of State for Illegal Migration, Fathi Mohammed Musa Al-Tabawi, affirmed that the issue of illegal migration is a top priority for the Libyan government and the Armed Forces, due to its direct impact on national security and societal stability, noting that addressing it requires concerted efforts and intensified institutional work.
This came in his statement to the Libyan News Agency while presiding over the ministry’s fourth regular meeting for 2025, held at the Ministry’s Diwan in Benghazi, with the participation of department and office directors and a number of employees.
Al-Tabawi stressed the necessity for each department to adhere to its duties as per its job description and to achieve effective coordination between offices to implement the ministry’s strategy in combating the phenomenon of illegal migration and enhancing administrative and technical performance efficiency.
The meeting reviewed the development plan for the Center for Migration Studies and Research, to serve as the ministry’s research arm by providing it with qualified personnel and expanding its duties to prepare periodic studies and analyses that support decision-makers.
The meeting also covered mechanisms for enhancing institutional and media communication, and direct supervision of official platforms to ensure the delivery of accurate and reliable messages to the local and international community, while emphasizing the importance of submitting periodic reports that document developments on the issue and facilitate monitoring.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Minister of State affirmed the ministry will continue to hold evaluative meetings to update action plans in line with the requirements of the current phase, renewing the state’s commitment to addressing this issue within its national, security, and humanitarian framework.
