Ministry of Electricity's 2025 Achievements and Projects to Enhance National Grid Stability

Benghazi – The Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy concluded 2025 with significant achievements. These included numerous projects across various electricity sectors. This was part of a comprehensive vision. It aimed to support the stability of the national electricity grid. The ministry sought to improve service quality for citizens. This applied to all cities and regions under the Libyan government.

These efforts followed directives from the General Command of the Libyan Arab Armed Forces. Leading this was Commander-in-Chief Field Marshal Khalifa Belqasim Haftar. Deputy Commander-in-Chief Lieutenant General Saddam Khalifa Haftar provided direct oversight. The Libyan government, headed by Prime Minister Osama Hamad, offered full support. The Development and Reconstruction Fund of Libya also assisted. Coordination occurred with the General Electricity Company, led by Mohammed Al-Mashai.

During the past year, the ministry implemented over 264 projects. These were led by Minister Awad Al-Badri. They encompassed production, transmission, voltage stations, and distribution networks. This was part of a scientific and well-planned work strategy. Its goal was to enhance sector efficiency. It also aimed to reduce faults and outages. Furthermore, it sought to improve the quality of electricity.

In the production sector, the ministry introduced new generation units to the grid. This boosted production capacity. It also increased the efficiency of the electricity supply. This met the growing demand. This was especially true in densely populated cities and vital areas.

For energy transmission, work included extensive maintenance and rehabilitation. Many transmission lines had not been maintained for years. This significantly enhanced grid reliability. It also reduced the likelihood of sudden faults.

In 2025, several regions with weak electricity currents received support. This support involved establishing and completing 30-kilovolt voltage stations. Work also continued on other projects within the ministry’s general plan.

Regarding distribution networks, work teams executed widespread projects. These aimed to develop internal networks in cities and remote areas. This included replacing dilapidated wires. New transformers were installed. Infrastructure was improved. This ensures stable service delivery to citizens.

These projects were carried out by national personnel. Companies affiliated with the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy executed them. These include the National Company for Distribution Projects. Also involved were the National Company for Energy Projects and the National Company for Electrical Works. The National Company for Construction and Consultations also participated. This clearly affirms the capability of Libyan expertise. They can manage and execute major projects.

The ministry affirmed its determination to proceed in the new year. It will implement strategic projects. These will enhance the stability of the electricity grid. They will also support the transition to alternative and renewable energy sources. This aligns with global trends. It contributes to achieving sustainable development. It establishes a stable and secure electricity sector. This sector serves the nation’s construction efforts.
