Libyan academic researcher and politician Mohamed Muterid considered the agreement between the House of Representatives and the High Council of State to complete the required mandates, including the formation of the election commission’s board of directors and political positions, as a completion of the UN proposal. He explained that the committee affiliated with the mission is tasked with monitoring the performance of the High National Elections Commission and conducting the necessary reviews.
Completion of the UN Proposal
Muterid said that the understanding between the two councils comes within a path led by the mission, with technical monitoring of the commission’s performance and the reviews it requires.
Priority of Forming an Effective Commission
He stressed that discussing a change in sovereign positions is inappropriate at this stage, emphasizing that the priority now is to form an effective election commission within a period not exceeding sixty days, followed by the formation of a government to lead the country to the electoral process.
Warning Against Expanding the Issues
He warned that introducing the issue of sovereign positions at present could complicate the situation and obstruct the primary goal.
