Libya’s National Center for Disease Control (NCDC) warned on Saturday against a new wave of COVID-19, calling for re-imposing precautionary measures in public places as the virus remains in the community spread stage.
The NCDC expressed concern that the spike in COVID-19 cases in Tunisia could consequently affect Libya. It also warned that low tests in the eastern and southern regions of the country are obstacle to accurately examine the epidemiological situation.
The center recommended changing the vaccination strategy, and increasing the focus on mobile teams instead of fixed centers in order to reach the target percentage of vaccination. It also called for “expanding and intensifying awareness campaigns”, increasing tests, especially in the eastern and southern regions, and a re-imposing precautionary measures in public places.
